Textiles Certifications
From the harvesting of the raw materials to the whole production process back in Portugal, we make sure that our clothes do not contain harmful substances or chemicals and are produced in a socially and environmentally responsible way.
Following these internal principles, our entire production process is Certified by third-party independent organizations from the most renown international Standards in the Apparel & Textile Industry.
Below you can read more about the different Certificates and their meanings.
GOTS
Our entire production process is Certified by The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), the worldwide leading textile processing standard for Organic Fibers, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.
The aim of the standard is to define worldwide recognized requirements that ensure the certified 'Organic' status of textiles, from the harvesting of the raw fibers, through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing up to coloring and labelling, in order to provide credible assurance to the end consumer.
This standard stipulates requirements throughout the supply chain for both ecological and labor conditions in textile manufacturing using organically produced raw materials.
Organic production is based on a system of farming that maintains and replenishes soil fertility without the use of toxic, persistent pesticides or synthetic fertilizers.
In addition, it includes welfare standards for animal husbandry and prohibits genetically modified organisms.
The GOTS guarantees: textile products that contain at least 70-100% Certified Organic Natural Fibers.

OEKO-TEX Standard 100
Additionally, our entire production process is also Certified by the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, one of the world's best-known labels for textiles tested for harmful substances. It stands for customer confidence and high product safety.
If a textile article carries the STANDARD 100 label, the consumer can be certain that every component of that product, i.e. every thread, button or any other accessories, has been tested for harmful substances or chemicals and is therefore a credible assurance that the article is harmless for human health.
Within the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification there are 4 different product classes, of which VALE only uses the best classification in their products – Product Class 1.
This is the product class that sets the strictest requirements and limit values for products and that is approved for baby and children’s clothes.
OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification ensures that the production is free from 100 different harmful substances from an internal criteria catalog, which is updated at least once a year.
OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification usually sets stricter requirements than what EU legislation requires.
