Disabled-friendly holidays in Slettestrand

Feriecenter Slettestrand is among Denmark's most disabled-friendly resorts and offers both holiday apartments and holiday houses with the option of bathing in a hot water pool with a lift, going on an excursion with a horse-drawn carriage and much more.

'Holiday for all' at Hou Sea Sports Centre

Advanced technology and well thought-out solutions to often quite banal problems for wheelchair users ensure that a holiday at Hou Søsportcenter is also a family holiday.
The three words "Holiday for all" have been the starting point for the basic idea, design and construction of Hou Sea Sports Centre ever since the first creative idea for the centre was conceived. That's why the water sports centre is ideal for people with walking difficulties and wheelchair users, regardless of whether guests want to experience the water or just enjoy nature, the sea and the view.

'The Last Steps Towards Death'

The book 'The Last Steps Towards Death' is written from the personal experiences of two palliative care nurses. Authors Anne-Mette Hansen and Soongheei Voigt believe there is a lack of knowledge about what you go through with a life-threatening illness. Both as a patient and as a carer. The concept of bereavement is a relatively new concept that has emerged among the population.

Soongheei Voigt says of the book: 'It's very easy to read and we think it's very relevant for all people'.

'Soothing Words - Let's talk about death'

The book 'Soothing Words - Let's talk about death' is a collection of short stories, poems and novel extracts, each dealing with the theme of grief in their own way. Authors from this and previous centuries each describe the emotions and experiences that losing or having to leave can trigger. These are stories about the loss of a parent, a loved one, a child. About being the one who is going to die and the difficult time leading up to the farewell.
But also stories about the vibrant life that emerges in the spaces between it all.

'Special: Antidotes to the obsessions that come with a child’s disability'

Most of us expect to meander through the motions of love, marriage and (textbook) baby in the carriage, but once in a while life has something a little more special in store.

Special is an uplifting book, a candid companion for those in the early stages of navigating a child’s disability, offering honest, reassuring and relatable insight into a largely unknown (and so, initially terrifying) part of our world.
It features antidotes to the obsessions at the forefront of a newly minted special-needs parent’s mind: Why has this happened to me? Will I ever stop comparing my child to typical children? How will my relationship survive? Will I be able to work again? Should I have another baby? And the big one: What will my future look like?

Inspired by professional author Melanie Dimmitt's own crash landing into special needs parenting and shaped by her conversations with parents of children with a wide range of disabilities.

'The Blend' magazine

'The Blend' is an annual, magazine-style resource for people in the tube-feeding community.
Inspired by one family’s tricky transition into this space, it was created to impart a simple truth: tube-feeding is different for everyone. Getting it right can take a bit of trial and error and a lot of trusting your gut.

On these pages you’ll find parents who are tube-feeding their kids, as well as teens and adults who’ve previously, or are currently, tube-fed. Their stories lift the lid on this way of eating - and share a taste of just how creatively our most fundamental needs can be met.

You’ll also find interviews with business owners, dietitians and medical professionals at the forefront of this growing sector, recipes to suit and satiate a broad range of appetites, a directory of useful products, and articles exploring the historical and emotional sides of tube-feeding.

Specially designed winter mittens

The Rumlii mittens are specially designed winter mittens that take into account the motor skills of children aged 1-4 years.

The mittens are designed in Denmark by Martin Niemann, who previously worked as a nursery teacher for over 10 years.

The mittens have a round shape that leaves room for the child's fingers, so they automatically mold to whatever the child wants to grasp. They are made of 70% wool and 30% acrylic and tested for harmful chemicals. They're quick to put on, no left or right hand, no thumbs to mess with, and they support your child's intuitive approach to play and movement.
