Vilje's story

VALE Designs increases quality of life for little girl

For Nicca and her family, life with their youngest daughter, Vilje, has been filled with love, but also great challenges.

Vilje, now 2,5 years old, was diagnosed with SCID - a rare immunodeficiency that required a bone marrow transplant to survive - at just four months old.
Her journey since then has presented countless challenges, including a PEG tube, sensory integration disorders and motor difficulties. For the family, this meant an everyday life where even the smallest things, like clothing choices, could feel like an insurmountable barrier.

A family filled with love and care

Vilje is surrounded by her three older siblings who love her unconditionally and always find time to play, sing and spend time with their little sister. In addition, Vilje has the most loving and caring parents who are always attentive to Vilje's challenges and needs.

Everyday life with special needs

For Nicca and Jesper, everyday life with Vilje is a constant balancing act. Stimuli such as noise, touch and sudden movements can be difficult for her to handle. At the same time, she is non-verbal and can't express if something is bothering her. In addition, her PEG tube, epilepsy and gastrointestinal issues require constant attention, making even simple tasks like shopping a challenge.

Clothes that limited everyday life

Ever since Vilje's hospitalization, regular clothes have been a source of frustration for the family. Electrodes, drains and probes made it impossible to wear a standard bodysuit. As Willie grew older, she outgrew her baby sizes and it was almost impossible to find clothes that were comfortable, practical and adapted to her needs. Vilje gets scared when she has to wear clothes over her head and the many daily changes of clothes were difficult and time-consuming.

The encounter with VALE Designs

Nicca had long heard about VALE Designs through social media and recommendations from other parents. After getting in touch with the founder of VALE Designs, Tina, the family decided to try a bodysuit. And from the first moment, there was a marked difference.

A revolutionary difference

The clothes from VALE Designs have changed everyday life for Vilje and her family. The material is soft, without annoying marks, and the fit stays perfect even after repeated washes on high heat. For Vilje, this means less discomfort and stress when changing clothes. The family can now get to the probe more easily without disturbing her unnecessarily, and on the rare occasions when the clothes are not washed, it results in an emergency wash - that's how crucial it has become to their everyday life.

Bodysuits with zippers on the sleeves have also made it much easier for healthcare professionals to measure blood pressure and take blood samples without having to undress Vilje completely, significantly reducing her anxiety.

Clothes that give freedom and quality of life

Although Vilje can't say how she feels, her family can clearly feel the difference. She is calmer, less self-harming and responds much better to the necessary routines around her tube feeding. For the parents, it has meant less stress and an easier everyday life where practical solutions don't have to be a constant struggle.

A recommendation for other parents

For parents considering VALE Designs, Nicca has one clear piece of advice:

“Give it a shot, you won't regret it. It's well worth the money and there is often financial support for this type of clothing through the municipality. In addition, the service is top notch and Tina is always ready to help you find the right solution.”

For Nicca, Jesper and Vilje, VALE Designs has meant more than just practical clothes - it has given them an easier everyday life and more freedom to focus on what is most important: love and family unity.
